Prevalence of Non-Communicable Diseases by Subdistricts

Note: Data related to non-communicable diseases was collected in wave 2 and 3

Types of non-communicable diseases collected in wave 2

1. Hypertension

Respondent reported that they have ever been diagnosed with hypertension by health professionals.

2. Diabetes

Respondent reported that they have ever been diagnosed with diabetes by health professionals.

3. Stroke

Respondent reported that they have ever been diagnosed with stroke by health professionals.

4. Coronary heart disease

Respondent reported that they have ever been diagnosed with coronary heart disease by health professionals.

5. Cancer

Respondent reported that they have ever been diagnosed with cancer by health professionals.

Types of non-communicable diseases cycle 3:

1. Hypertension

Respondent reported that they have ever been diagnosed with hypertension by health professionals.

2. Diabetes

Respondent reported that they have ever been diagnosed with diabetes by health professionals.

3. Stroke

Respondent has been diagnosed with a stroke by a health worker and has taken medication or underwent treatment in the last 2 weeks

4. COPD

Respondents reported that they have been diagnosed with chronic lung disease (emphysema, bronchitis, COPD) by health workers and have taken medication or underwent treatment in the last 2 weeks.

5. Angina

Respondents reported that in the last 12 months they experienced any pain or discomfort in your chest when you walk uphill or hurry

* OR walk at an ordinary pace on level ground.
* AND relief after stopping or slowing down
* AND location of pain on left side of the chest area
* OR have ever been diagnosed with angina and have been taking medications or other treatment for angina

6. Asthma

  • Has experienced symptoms such as shortness of breath in these conditions or environments: exposed to the cold, dusty air, exposed to cigarette smoke, experience stress, exhaustion, drug allergy, food allergy, caught flu, or infection,
  • AND the symptoms of shortness improve or disappear with treatment, or the symptoms get worse at night or in early morning,
  • AND experienced the first symptom before the age of 40 years old.

7. COPD chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

COPD was assessed if the following criteria were met:

  • Respondent aged ≥30 years old AND
  • Has ever experienced symptoms such as shortness of breath and in the last month experienced has ever experienced productive cough, OR
  • in the last month experienced has ever experienced productive cough and the shortness of breath worsened when doing any physical activity, OR
  • in the last month experienced has ever experienced productive cough and the shortness of breath worsened with age.
