HDSS Sleman conducts research on the causes of death for every respondent recorded as having died in the main HDSS Sleman wave by conducting a Verbal Autopsy (VA) interview. Verbal autopsy is a method used to estimate a person’s cause of death based on information about their symptoms and condition before death. Health information and a description of the events before death are obtained from interviews with a person or people who knew the final condition of the deceased respondent.
